Prayer Calendar September 2026
TUE SEPTEMBER 1 – Another month begins, and we look forward to what God will do in our midst in answer to prayer. We thank all of our friends who read this publication and take the requests to the Lord.

WED SEPTEMBER 2 – Mike and Joan Godsell are former staff members at the Hot Springs, South Dakota, branch of Rio Grande. Thank the Lord for all they have done to prepare the facilities for this first semester, and ask Him to bless them.
I Corinthians 13
THU SEPTEMBER 3 – Classes began last month at Rio Grande. Pray for the staff at both campuses, and for the students as they settle into their studies. Ask the Lord to work in their hearts and give them joy in studying His Word.

FRI SEPTEMBER 4 – Thank the Lord for Bill and Sandy Graff, who have been faithful staff members at Rio Grande for many years. Pray for them as they continue to serve here as long as the Lord desires.

SAT SEPTEMBER 5 – Rio Grande’s President, Larry Windle, and his wife, Ruth, (both MLS’97) appreciate your prayers for their ministries. Larry is also on the faculty, and Ruth is the Library Director. Ask God to continue guiding them in all their responsibilities.

SUN SEPTEMBER 6 – Pray for the students as they attend local churches on Sundays. When they become better acquainted with the congregation, we trust that they will find ways to serve the Lord there.

MON SEPTEMBER 7 – Today is Labor Day and a holiday from school. We know that the students will enjoy this day, whether they are spending time together or catching up on homework. Pray also for the faculty as they take a break from their usual responsibilities.

TUE SEPTEMBE R 8 – Keith Heppner is Rio Grande’s Vice President of Information and Technology and a Designated School Official for immigration matters. Pray for him and his wife, Olivia, as they continue to serve the staff and students.
II Corinthians 1
WED SEPTEMBER 9 – Pray for our newly accepted students as they finalize their preparations for arriving next January. Pray especially for those from other countries who will need to obtain their visas.

THU SEPTEMBER 10 – Marci Heppner joined the Rio Grande staff last year, and is serving in the personnel and staff recruitment areas. Ask the Lord to guide her as she continues to adapt to her responsibilities here.

FRI SEPTEMBER 11 – Ask God to bless JT and Heather Greer (both ICS’23) as they lead the twice-weekly campus Food Pantry. They provide various types of food to our staff members, students, and winter volunteers.

SAT SEPTEMBER 12 – Please pray today for Itzhel Noguera, widow of a former Rio Grande graduate who died during the Covid epidemic. Itzhel continues to serve the Lord among women and children in Mexico.

SUN SEPTEMBER 13 – Irian (BC’22) and Sarah Hernandez will appreciate your prayers. Irian is now the Dean of Men in the Bible College. Ask the Lord to use him as he works closely with the men students.

MON SEPTEMBER 14 – Our married students have many responsibilities with their families as well as their own studies. Ask the Lord to give them grace and the ability to schedule their time well as the semester continues.

TUE SEPTEMBER 15 – Ken and Leah Spieler (MLS’14) in Piedras Negras, Mexico, are thankful for their growing ministry. They ask prayers for the churches they oversee, and for their sons who often help in the services.

WED SEPTEMBER 16 – Patricia Hoeksema joined our staff recently and is serving in the accounts area. Pray for her as she works there and continues to become acquainted with the staff and students.

THU SEPTEMBER 17 – Pray for direction for the leaders of this ministry as new opportunities are presented. May the Lord guide them in each situation as they seek His will.

FRI SEPTEMBER 18 – Cristy Hofer will appreciate prayer for her ministry as the Assistant to the Vice President of Media. Ask the Lord to bless her and use her in this important ministry of Rio Grande.

SAT SEPTEMBER 19 – Flo Friesen (MLS’79), in Manitoba, Canada, enjoys visiting people in nursing homes. She asks prayer for them, and also for friends in the Middle East, where she served for several years.

SUN SEPTEMBER 20 – Pray today for our students as they make plans for serving the Lord at Christmas break and next summer. May the Lord guide them and provide needed prayer and financial support.

MON SEPTEMBER 21– Pray for Billy (ICS’17) and Sarah (ICS’19) Jackson of our staff. Billy is the Vice President of Media. Ask God to give him wisdom as he leads this area, and may God also bless Sarah and their young children.

TUE SEPTEMBER 22 – Each Tuesday and Thursday, we have chapel services for the students and staff. Speakers may be staff members, alumni, pastors, or other leaders. Pray that God will bless each one who attends today.
Galatians 1
WED SEPTEMBER 23 – Staff member Kay Jeske will appreciate your prayers as she contributes to the Rio Grande Magazine, among other things. Ask God’s blessing on her and her adult children.

THU SEPTEMBER 24 – Please pray today for our staff who serve with Rio Grande Global. Ask God to continue using them to inspire churches throughout Latin America to prepare and send forth their own missionaries.

FRI SEPTEMBER 25 -– The Lord continues to bless Radio Esperanza, Rio Grande’s radio network. Pray for the staff as they produce programs, plan events, pray for the listeners, and give godly counsel to those who ask their advice.

SAT SEPTEMBER 26 – Randy and Evelyn Kizzia will appreciate our prayers as they serve as representatives of Rio Grande. Ask the Lord to use them as they speak in various places, making known how God is working through this ministry.

SUN SEPTEMBER 27 – Join us in praying for the families of our students, who do not know the Lord personally. May He use the students’ lives and testimonies to speak to them of their need of Christ.

MON SEPTEMBER 28 – Pray for Bob and Barb Kracht (both MLS ’75) who are the longest serving members of our current staff family. Barb works in the accounting area, and Bob is the managing editor of our magazine, a photographer, and a camping teacher.
Ephesians 1
TUE SEPTEMBER 29 — Some of our former students serve in areas where there is opposition to the teaching of the Bible. Please remember these friends who face difficult situations. Ask the Lord to keep them safe and to use them as He leads.

WED SEPTEMBER 30 – Pray today for our alumni working among Hispanics in the US and Canada. Many of them have opportunities to minister in either Spanish or English. Ask the Lord to encourage them today.
